MID YEAR and Christmas Lunch

The ISA is delighted to host 2 special lunches throughout the year for our senior community - the Mid Year Lunch in July and the Christmas Lunch in December. Both lunches provide an opportunity for the senior community across Greater Sydney to gather and celebrate with friends new and old.

Lifetime of stories

A Lifetime of Stories is a series of storytelling workshops, where participants are invited to document their own personal life story, history and legacy.

This project aims to provide meaningful social connection opportunities for older people who are isolated or at risk of isolation. Through shared storytelling and life experiences, we can bring people together in a deeper, more lasting way.

This project is run on an ad hoc basis but if you would like to express your interest in joining future sessions, please contact us below.

Please note, there is an upcoming project starting in April 2026.

BEFRIENDING

The Befriending service provides personalised companionship for people in their own home or during outings and activities in the community. Additionally, we provide a telephone befriending option.

We have a number of volunteers who are interested in getting to know a settled senior within the Irish community, to share stories and experiences, and to feel that connection to home.

Befriending is provided by volunteers who are vetted and managed by ISA staff.

SILVER SURFERS

Our Silver Surfers computer/tablet classes run at different times throughout the year in the Gaelic Club, Surry Hills on a Wednesday afternoon from 2pm-3pm. The classes aim to provide our Seniors with the basic skills for connecting safely to keep up to date with news, family and friends.

We have a wonderful cohort of volunteers to oversee the classes so there will be plenty of support available for all attendees.

All equipment and learning materials will be provided.

DAY TRIPS

We organise regular outings and day trips for our senior community throughout the year.
