how we make a difference

The Irish Support Agency’s Mission is to provide front-line support to anyone in the Irish-Australian community who finds themselves in circumstances of vulnerability or distress. We endeavour to promote mental health & wellbeing and a sense of connection in our community.

We do this through:

  • referrals to qualified specialists for advice

  • running fortnightly senior drop in groups and a social befriending program

  • outreach services for our most vulnerable clients

  • practical guidance and help

  • assistance with navigating Australian health and legal systems

  • community education, support programs and social events

  • regular mental health workshops

If you need assistance contact us on: 1800 186 966

Our team is currently working remotely however we are available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. The on call service for emergencies is operational between 8am and 8pm daily.

Please also encourage any members of our community who may need our help and support to contact us.

  • I cannot speak highly enough about the Irish Support Agency. A woman named Elske helped me tremendously recently when I was trying to move back to Ireland with my family. She rang me multiple times a day and I believe that I would still be in Oz if it were not for her. She was incredible and I am so grateful for her help and support at a really stressful time. I cannot say enough good things about the agency. You really helped my family out.

  • Guys thank you so much. You were the only people that were actually able to help when I thought there was nowhere else to go. Please keep doing your great work and hopefully one day I'll be able to return the favour.

  • We cannot thank the Irish Support Agency enough for the incredible support they gave us during a very difficult time for our family, when our son Jason was seriously injured in Sydney. A wonderful organisation ran by people we are now proud to call our friends. Thank you so much.

  • I will be forever grateful for the support and guidance given to me by the Irish Support Agency during a very difficult and traumatic time late last year when one of my best friends took his own life, here in Sydney. This organization is run by amazing people and is one that every Irish person here in Australia should be very proud of. Thank you for everything.

OUR FUNDING

We acknowledge the financial support provided to us by the Emigrant Support Program of the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ireland) for our administration costs, which enables us to make a significant difference to the Irish Community in Sydney and New South Wales every year.

However, this funding only contributes 56% to our annual operational costs. Therefore, community donations, sponsorship and fundraising are essential to ensure that we can continue to fulfil our mission of providing front-line support to anyone in the Irish-Australian community who finds themselves in circumstances of vulnerability or distress.
