Week 9: 14 to 19 November
Weeks left until the Fight Night: 3
Our boxers are now in the final stages of their training program. The trainers have introduced some heavier sparring to prepare them for the Irish Fight Night which is now only a few short weeks away on December 9. Of course the trainers are ensuring safety is paramount, but small injuries can occur during this more intense training stage - the team enjoy comparing black eyes and bruises each week!!
Outside the gym the boxers are completing medicals and registration with the Combat Sports Authority who will be overseeing the fight night. Next week final weigh ins will take place and the trainers will make final decisions on matches (although boxers won't find out until the week of the fight!)
After nine intense weeks of training four times a week our boxers are understandably feeling the effects and are looking forward to the big night itself where they can display all they have learned over the past 12 weeks, and enjoy a well deserved beer. The trainers are working hard to keep motivation high, but we need the Irish in Sydney to get behind these brave heroes who have been outstanding in their support of the Irish Support Agency over the last few months. You can support them by purchasing your ticket to the event from them or donating to their individual fundraising pages (links below). If you don't know any of the boxers contact the ISA team directly on firstname.lastname@example.org or 02 9300 8019 for yours today.
